Today, Yahoo was Celebrating Diwali. 
They had Rangoli Competition and i Won the First Prize ...Yahooooooooo !!!!!
Here is the Rangoli design i drew.
And i took one week to complete this peacock design : )

Detailed study of design : - To get the appropriate color combination of the peacock feather was really tough...but Achu helped me to select these colors. 

I want this "peacock" should be the first impression of my design.

I have seen Rangoli designs with white kolam powder. 

So I was planning to add some white outline designs to my Peacock. 

 As i dont have a white sketch, i need to color the background with red and purple to highlight the white design.

ആരാണു ശരി ???? (Who is Right?)

ഇന്ത്യയിലെ മറ്റു സംസ്ഥാനക്കാര്‍ ഏറ്റവും എളുപ്പത്തില്‍ ഒരു മലയാളിയെ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നത്‌ അയാളുടെ സംസാര രീതിയില്‍  നിന്നാണെന്നാണ് ഈയിടെ എന്നോട് ചില തെലുങ്ക് , തമിഴ് സുഹൃത്തുക്കള്‍ പറഞ്ഞത് .                       

                        ഓട്ടോ,ഓഫീസ്,കോള്‍, സോള്‍വ്‌, ബോഡി , ബോയ്സ്       ...... ഇത് പോലെ ഉള്ള പദങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞു കേള്‍ക്കുമ്പോള്‍ തന്നെ മലയാളിയെ പ്രത്യേകം തിരിച്ചറിയാം എന്നാണു അവര്‍ പറയുന്നത്. മാത്രമല്ല,  ഇവിടെ നമ്മുടെ ഉച്ചാരണവും തെറ്റാണെന്ന് അവര്‍ വാദിക്കുന്നു.     

                      മലയാളികള്‍ക്ക്  " ഓ " പ്രിയം കുറച്ചു കൂടുതല്‍ ആണെന്ന് അവര്‍ വാദിക്കുന്നു.. അവരോടു എതിര്‍ക്കാനും മറുപടി പറയാനും എന്റെ നാവു ചലിച്ചില്ല .. കാരണം എനിക്ക് തന്നെ അറിയില്ല ഏതാണ്  ശരി എന്ന് ..

കേരളം വിട്ട കാലം മുതല്‍ ഇതേ ചൊല്ലി ധാരാളം കളിയാക്കലുകള്‍ കേട്ട് കേട്ട് മടുത്ത എനിക്ക് ഇതും പുത്തരി ആയിരുന്നില്ല .. തമിഴരും തെലുങ്കരും മാത്രമുള്ള ഈ സുഹൃത്ത് വലയത്തിന്റെ പൊട്ടിചിരികള്‍ക്കും പരിഹാസങ്ങള്‍ക്കും  നടുക്ക് ഏക മലയാളികുട്ടി ആയ ഞാന്‍  പുഞ്ചിരിയോടെ  മിണ്ടാതെ ഇരുന്നു .. എന്തിനായിരുന്നു ഞാന്‍ മൌനം പാലിച്ചത് ?... രണ്ടു കയ്യും കൂട്ടി അടിച്ചാല്‍ ശബ്ദം വരും എന്ന  പൊതു തത്വം  അനുഭവങ്ങള്‍ പഠിപ്പിച്ചത് കൊണ്ടോ ??... ഭൂരിപക്ഷം വരുന്ന അവരുടെ ശബ്ധങ്ങള്‍ക്കിടയില്‍ എന്റെ ശബ്ദത്തിനു പിടിച്ചു നില്ക്കാന്‍ ആകില്ലെന്ന് അറിഞ്ഞത് കൊണ്ടോ ??... അറിയില്ല..... 

എനിക്ക് തിരിച്ചു വാദിക്കാമായിരുന്നു.....തമിഴരുടെ  അധികമായ " ആ "  പ്രയോഗത്തെയും,.. തെലുങ്കരുടെ " ജ " പ്രയോഗത്തെയും കളിയാക്കാന്‍ കിട്ടിയ അവസരം ആയിരുന്നു .. 

എന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്ന നുറുങ്ങു കഷ്ണങ്ങള്‍ -

- (നമ്മുടെ sorry - തമിഴരുടെ  സാറി, നമ്മുടെ  call  - തമിഴരുടെ കാല്‍ , നമ്മുടെ sir - തമിഴരുടെ ശാര്‍, നമ്മുടെ Body - അവരുടെ - ബാഡി  )....

- ( നമ്മുടെ Zoo - തെലുങ്കരുടെ ജൂ , നമ്മുടെ  Bens - തെലുങ്കരുടെ ബെഞ്ച്‌ )               

 പക്ഷെ ഈ നുറുങ്ങു കഷ്ണങ്ങള്‍ കൊണ്ട് എന്റെ സുഹൃത്ത് വലയം തകര്‍ക്കാന്‍ ഞാന്‍ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചില്ല ...പോരാത്തതിന് ഇവര്‍ പറയുന്നത് ശരി വയ്ക്കുന്ന രീതിയില്‍ കുറച്ചു മലയാളികള്‍ ചില സ്ഥലത്ത് ആട്ടോ , ആപ്പിസ് എന്നല്ലാം എഴുതി വച്ചിരിക്കുന്നത് ഞാന്‍  തന്നെ കണ്ടിട്ടുണ്ട് 

എന്നാലും ........

ഓട്ടോ - ശരിക്കിനും ആട്ടോ ആണോ ?

ഓഫീസ് - ശരിക്കിനും ആഫീസ് ആണോ ?

കോള്‍  - ശരിക്കിനും കാള്‍ ആണോ?

സോള്‍വ്   - ശരിക്കിനും സാല്‍വ് ആണോ?

ബോഡി  - ശരിക്കിനും  ബാഡി ആണോ?

ബോയ്സ്   - ശരിക്കിനും ബായ്സ് ആണോ? 

  .........അറിയില്ല ... സംശയങ്ങളും കളിയാക്കലുകളും  മനസ്സില്‍ മായാതെ കിടക്കുന്നു ..

" Will You Be My Bride ? "

Still remember , 22nd speptember 2007 ,
The Day changed my life forever.

That was quite a Hurry-burry Morning.

My Mom called me while I was Getting ready for college.

She told me about the first proposal in my life.

On the next day, 23rd September 2007,
The first time I saw a photo of him.

From then on, I wanted to know more about him and his name,family,etc.
But my mom dint tell me anything else.
She said " Wait, will let you know "

I was waiting ....waiting...
Waited for 3months to meet him on December 26th 2007.
We met and we talked.

On July 9th 2009 ,
When we met the second time ,
After one and half years,

Inside our parish church,
In front of Jesus Christ on the Cross,
In front of our parents , relatives and church priest,
He was standing by my side,
With a Ring engraved the world's sweetest name " Ashley ", 

And asking " Will You be my Bride?"

When I look back

Here comes Another Onam Season

Missing those childhood Onam days again.
Let me take you guys to a Happy Journey to my old memories.
For us, Onam is the time for Relaxing after a Hectic week of Quarterly exams and for enjoying vacation.

                 Onam is the only festival in Kerala that lasts for 10 days. Keralites celebrate Onam unitedly without the difference of caste and religion. The proverb ,''Kaanam vittum onam unnanam'' is really true. It means “We should have the 'Thiruvonam' lunch even if we have to sell all our properties”

  

                 'Atham' day is the beginning of Onam celebrations in Kerala. Atham is the first day of making Pookalam (Flower carpet). This then continues for 10 days till Onam. There is a saying in Kerala – Atham Pathinu Ponnonam ( Tenth day from Atham is the Onam day)

                  'Athachamayam' on Atham day is the  Starting of Onam celebrations in My hometown Tripunithura ,Raja Nagari of Cochin. To the people of Tripunithura, Athachamayam means a lot and they do not forget to attend it each year. On that day people will be waiting on the both sides of the road to watch the Athachamayam parade and attractions, doesn't  matter if its sunny or rainy. Here are few photographs of Athachamayam.

                   Long ago, The Kochi Maharaja used to travel with his followers from Tripunithura to Trikkakara Vamanamoorthy temple on Atham day to participate in the onam celebrations.

People used to stand in the road sides to greet him and see him closely during this occasion. The era of Kings have ended, the festival and tradition still continuous. 
There will be many elephants decorated with the traditional ‘Nettipattam',  children performing Pulikali, colorful Kaavadi, parade of different school students, Mayilattam, chendamelam,  shinkarimelam,  ammankudam,  theyyam,  Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, barathanadyam,  lorry tableaus on current affair issues, and lots of lots of traditional art dances.

                             For making pookkalam ,I used to pluck flowers from my amma’s garden. And I remember drawing pokkalam designs for college pookkalam competitions. Wow…onam celebration in college days were beautiful… all the girls will be in Kasavu sari and set mundu …pookkalam competition , onam games and atlast onam sadhya. Pookkalam designs will be amazing.                           Last 4 onam days, we will be in front of the TV watching loads of movies….in between fighting with my Appa and Brother to watch my favourite channel “ WE”

Thiruvonam day amma will make small sadhya - Rice with Sambar,  Aviyal,  Injipuli, Cabbage thoran, Chips, Sarkkaravartti,  Pazham, Pappadam…and by the time nandu and puttu (neighbors)  will bring a yummy yummy payasam that lekha chechi made.

I miss onam  in my house  with Amma ,appa and Jo

Am in a world that is totally different from yesterday…and I know that I can’t go back to those yesterdays. Am wishing to be a child once again.

Am I really missing those days???….yeah I do.

Am eagerly waiting to make my favourite Palada Payasam for this Onam. This is the 3rd Year that am not at home for Onam. For the next onam , I want to be in God's Own Country, the land of coconut trees.

                        A bigger and clearer photo/picture would help me to make the final portrait perfect.  If you have more than one photo and if you need some help choosing the best one, or if you are unsure whether a photo is suitable or not, I’m more happy to help you.

Step 2 – Contact me

                        Once you have found a photo, mail me that photo with you requirements. Email it to sketch.laly@yahoo.com

Step 3 – Delivery of Your Portrait

                        Once I have completed your pencil portrait, I will contact you. I will also send you a scan copy of the artwork for your final approval. And your portrait will be sent to your mailing address and I will ensure that it reaches you safely and undamaged.

Method of Sketching

            Your portrait will be drawn on white paper and the border will be left for framing purposes. A typical pencil portrait takes between 8 – 12 hours to complete. It will be drawn entirely by hand using only graphite pencils and very smooth white sketch papers. I start with the eyes and gradually build up the portrait using different shades of Graphite Pencil.

            The final thing I do, is take a photo of the work ready to send you for checking etc... If you are happy with that ,I will request your address details. Then your portrait is ON ITS WAY !! I always ensure I meet or exceed your expectations with the finished artwork. Thank You All.
